New Head of Capacity Development appointed

We are delighted to announce that we have recently appointed Will Banham as the new Head of Capacity Development. We warmly welcome him to the Centre and we look forward to working with him in the coming months. As Head of Capacity Development, Will hopes to support our efforts to further strengthen the capacity development work carried out by UNEP-WCMC with our partners, and to maximize our long-term impact on the development and implementation of biodiversity conservation policy and practice. This will likely include developing a consensus around how we approach capacity development, testing and implementing new and innovative approaches. We hope to further engage in long-term strategic partnerships, to ensure that we use monitoring and evaluation tools to measure our effectiveness, and continue to learn as a capacity development organization.

Will holds a degree in Zoology and a PhD in the field of Behavioural Ecology, both from Manchester University. Previously, Will has worked in a role as the Director of Training and Capacity Building for the Wildlife Conservation Society in New York. Most recently, he has worked for PCI Media Impact, also in New York, as Programs Director, using media to communicate ideas about conservation to various target audiences.
