Ralph Blaney

Ralph provides economic support primarily to the Climate Change and Biodiversity Programme, but also more widely across the Centre’s work. The main focus being the valuation of ecosystem services for REDD+ planning. Other current topics include the Green Economy, sustainable agriculture, and the economic contribution of nature-based tourism. Ralph’s background is in land use, rural development and environmental economics, with BSc, MSc and PhD in agricultural economics, and experience of undertaking economic valuation studies and natural capital accounting. Ralph previously worked as an economist at Scottish Natural Heritage and before that at Defra. He enjoys experiencing the stunning landscapes that the world has to offer.
