Publications

UNEP-WCMC produces reports for a number of fora including the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), the European Commission and the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS). Recent examples of these reports can be downloaded here in PDF format.

Reports produced for the European Commission

UNEP-WCMC prepares regular reports for the European Union to assist with the implementation of CITES in the EU. For example, in-depth trade trade analyses and reviews of the conservation status of particular taxa, amongst others.

A selection of recent reports prepared by UNEP-WCMC for the European Commission can be found below.

Analysis of European Union and candidate countries' annual reports to CITES

The Analyses of the European Union and candidate countries’ annual reports to CITES provide a detailed discussion of the information submitted by the EU Member States and candidate countries describing their trade in species listed in the Annexes of the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations. The Analyses summarise noteworthy patterns of trade, highlighting species that are traded in high volumes or for which trade has increased in recent years. A noteworthy addition to the 2010 and 2011 Analyses is the inclusion of a species valuation chapter, which examines the monetary value of EU imports of CITES-listed species.

The 2010 and 2011 Analyses of the European Union and candidate countries’ annual reports to CITES are available in an interactive online format, accessible here.
